The iPhones built in microphone is sensitive from 0 to approximately 130 decibels.

Why arent you getting a 0 decibel reading in a quiet room? A decibel is an actual measurement of sound pressure and aside from a vacuum chamber or out in space 0 dB is not really possible to read. An average quiet room will be in the 40-50 dB range.

Great for iPhone and iPad. Once you calibrate it, works very fine for a device app.

I have one of those booming voices that tend to stand out. Which in my case is not so good as I work on the phone in a small office. I can often drown out everyone else. Using this app, I can get a sense of when I am being too loud and consciously focus on bringing my volume down.

A handy way to find out just how loud ambient noise is. Example: hand dryers in washrooms, 105 max decibels!

As an HSE Consultant, many times we will be on site and a client is concerned or confused about the level of sound in the workplace. This app provides a quick reference and data collection for the client to make informed and knowledgable choices... Used many times , excellent "tool" in the toolbox for safety professionals...

I would love the option of an override when the iPhone goes to the lock screen. However this app really does work. Thank you folks

Some bad moments

Im a bit disappointed because there is no much difference between "Average" and "Peak". "Average" should be supposed to give the averaged sound level over a period of time adjustable by the user . Here, that period of time is not adjustable and far too short. Hence "Average" and "Peak" give practically the same result. Too bad. Thus this app is not very useful and I would not recommend it.

It seems to detect a whole lot of noise, even when its relatively quiet.

This is one of these fake apps whe the skin looks nice but the actual functionality does not work. The volume calculation seems to be broken. Not usable. Not worth the money. Does not even allow to take a relative reading, The displayed volume is always in the same range, no matter how silent or loud a signal is. The values are only slighlty correlated with the actual volume.

This app doesnt work. Max data reads. 0, sounds dont work. Very poor

Stuck at 68 db most of the time. Not worth the money. Needs to reset it often to work. Do not pay for this.

Id have to agree with an earlier reviewer that theres something not quite right with the accuracy. For some reason Id get 55-60 in a very quiet room with no noise at all. I also downloaded Decibel 10 for free and got a reading of 40-45 in the same room under the same conditions. Even if its 99 cents, Ive overpaid--Ill probably disable it.
